Melting silver coins is perfectly legal. Its pennies and I believe nickels that are illegal and pennies are only illegal because it costs the government more to make them then theyre worth. Theyre all for quarters and dimes being melted since they make money replacing them

This is getting a bit like a combination of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Alice in Wonderland, but... You're seriously asking if silver "...is worth it..." without saying what on earth "it" is. If what you're asking is whether or not silver is a good idea as an investment or as a form of savings, those questions have already been addressed and are addressed regularly every weekday. You need to do a little reading, and here's where you should start... https://goccf.com/t/142068

Quote: Its not Legal to melt coins in the US not at all Incorrect, the only US coins that currently cannot be legally melted are cents and nickels. It was illegal to melt silver coinage in the 1960s but that melt ban has since expired.

Speaking of melting... you can get the cladding right off clad coins with some heat. It might work on 40% halves.
Anyway, I wouldn't trust random sourceless ramblings... much less make a whole thread about them...

yes I also believe a little while ago they discovered an asteroid that contained more gold ,silver and diamonds then have been mined in history, there was months of talk about how they were going after it, like someone said above, believe nothing you hear and half of what you see,,

Stick to numismatic silver. Gold is gold. Diversify into Platinum and Palladium.

At prices of around $20...buy, buy, buy! I guarantee that our fiat dollar will lose its value faster than silver ever will. All fiat currencies eventually get inflated out of existence.

Invest in anime, so that you'll be prepared when Ron Paul makes it real.

Since that directive comes to us from the runaway number one unfocused, rambling, raving ranter here these days, it's really quite funny. Thanks for the humor.

Hey Mods, can't we just combine this thread with " Will silver go UP..UP...UP ...." and dump it into the " What happens to gold and silver next ......" thread so we can keep all "the know it all" ranters in one place ? That way we all can have just one thread to avoid instead of having to scroll down half the PM forum just to find some actual useful posts.
No offense ... just saying ......
