I want to get 100-200 Eisenhower dollars off of ebay to root through. There seems to be many, many, many different choices for buyers, quality levels, etc. The auctions range from $130-$200 for 100 Ikes. Obviously I want to get as many in good condition as I can. I don't want to spend $130 for a bunch of junk Ikes.

Does anyone have recommendations for sellers to get these from on ebay? In general is it worth it to buy the more expensive lots, will they have more high grade coins? Any other tips? It seems like quite the gamble, but I don't know of any other good sources.

Are you looking to search for varieties? Reconsider your strategy - and just buy the ones you're looking for. Ikes seem really undervalued. If you're considering spending $260 to look through coins that have been most likely already searched, spending that sum on the actual coins you're seeking might be a more reasonable course of action.

Unless every coin is pictures youre best bet would be to find ones with sealed bank bags. If its just a random pile with the typical picture of a lot theres a good chance they were already picked through.

Really though I guess it depends on what your ultimate goal is. If youre trying to find ones from upper grades cheap sealed bags are the best bet. If youre just trying to find nice ones you like paying under 2 something a coin for low ms uncirculated ones isn't a bad deal at all if you dont have the expectation of finding ms 65s or better.

I'm mostly interested in finding nice grades. Varieties would be nice, but not my main goal.

PM sent cc99999, at least I think I managed to get it off.

For the majority of bulk lots, you should consider that the seller has most likely searched and removed the higher grade/variety coins and you are getting the left overs

"Try local banks..." Easier said than done. My local banks have never had any.

Already tried some local banks, no luck. You would have to be very fortunate to find some Ikes at a bank these days, but I guess it does happen.
