Hey,
I have three of these coins, and I'm assuming they are not real, but I figure it doesn't hurt to double check. One of them has the date kind of worn down and it doesn't appear to be another metal below, but I'm no good at judging these. My father wanted me to check. He, of course, believes they are :)

Unfortunately they are not genuine or gold, sorry. Design details are different, likely to avoid being in trouble for counterfeiting existing US coins.

And there are a couple more out there and are very common. I have seen them at flea markets for high prices, being passed as real gold.

Below is a group of 10 California Gold tokens. All are made of gold ranging from about 9K to 22k. None are "genuine CA gold tokens though two are listed in the book, California Pioneer Fractional Gold by Breen Gillio.

Here we have a group of 19 different non-gold tokens. And one gold token in the upper left corner of the images. I hope these posts help.
