Hello everyone,

I recently bought a coin off ebay, a claimed Gordian and Tranquilina from 244 AD, 11.34 g, 26 mm diameter.

The questions: Is it real ? If not, no sense in reading the next ones. :)

1. Is there any way of confirming the exact year it was minted from what's written on the coin ?
2. How about the place it was minted ?
3. How much would I be able to sell it for if I were to do that ? (i won't, just curious :P)

Thank you very much for your help.

The coin is genuine no specific date other than being struck during his reign 238-244 AD. It's value is about $20.

Thank you very much for your feed-back, echizento, looks like I got a good deal :)

Is there any way I can find out where this coin was struck ? I've been browsing wildwinds for hours and hours, but I'm clearly not able to find this exact coin :
Thank you in advance for your help.

Anchialus, Thrace

Struck between 241 - 244 AD.

Gordian III and Tranquillina AE 25mm of Thrace, Anchialos. Vis à vis busts of Gordian and Tranquillina / Nike standing left, holding palm branch and offering laurel wreath.

quarter of the way down the page. Look for Anchialos AMGNG 663

There is no doubt in my mind that this coin is genuine. Congrats.

Wow, that was fast. Amazing, thank you. I was hoping it would be from Thrace (I'm from the area :P).
