A few exceptional 1759 coins posted yesterday by Petrus and Jgenn, let's get started with 1758. Austrian Netherlands, Emperor Francis I (the husband of Maria Theresia) 1758 half Kronenthaler. First issue minted in Brussels (the few earlier issues were minted in Antwerp). The combined mintage number of this Francis I version (less common) and the Maria Theresia issue is reported 456,062.  Fairly hard to get in a decent grade. |

Austrian Netherlands, 1755 Kronenthaler minted in Antwerp. The mintmark, an upheld hand, is at the top on the reverse. We've come at the cradle of this currency. 1755 was the first mintage year.  |

1754 Spanish Colonial 8 Reales, Mexico City. Two transitions that affected the design occurred during this year yielding four varieties. The first was with the team of assayers, Manuel de Leon and Francisco de la Pena y Flores changing to Manuel de Leon and Manuel Assorin (assayers' initials MF and MM). The second was the modification of the design on the reverse to replace the royal crown on the left pillar with the imperial crown. This coin is one of the rarer combinations, the original team of assayers with the new design of imperial and royal crowns.   |
