That last coin is a little old for 1909 ...

Ooops, sorry about that. I've removed it and will save it for next week...

Persia/Iran, 100 dinars, 1326 (1908)

A nice copper-nickel coin dating from the reign of the fairly inept Qajar dynasty. With no numerical denomination these are terrible to identify.

Austria, 1 corona, 1908

Part of the best commemorative series ever for the 60th year of Franz Joseph's reign. The Latin means "SIXTY YEARS GLORIOUSLY ACCOMPLISHED" (this is up for debate, he hung some Hungarians and started a really bad war). The last Habsburg monarch of Austria-Hungary was actually his nephew Karl I, who reigned for all of two years and was beatified for some reason (so you can call him "Blessed Karl of Austria").

My pick for today is another modest penny:

Edward VII was the British King from 1901 till 1910. If there is anything in common with Prince Charles, it must be that Edward has been the Prince of Wales for close to sixty years.
Queen Victoria reigned for 64 years and my bet is that Queen Elisabeth won't abdicate until she has broken that record.
