Very handsome coin! Is this your field of collecting, or a whimsical purchase... either way, bet it feels nice in the hand too.....cannot bear encapsulation , I have to get hands on...

Actually my area of collection has been Roman and Byzantine coins, but in the last six months or so I have branched out to include Indo-Greek and the east. This is my first of this coin type. Interesting note about this King was that he seized Jerusalem an captured the True Cross from the Byzantines. The Byzantine emperor Heraclius won it back and issued a token to commemorate that victory. I have one of those tokens.

Nice piece to add then, following the timeline with pieces of real history in your hand. I feel collecting should be about where your heart takes you.......

Very nice. I have one like this that has been struck on a slightly larger planchet.

Khusro II coins are by far the most abundant of the Persian Shahs, but that doesn't make the coin any less cool. Just convenient. Where else could you get a coin with clear tangible history as this for not a lot of money. These coins are well made and date to the life time of Mohammed so no matter which way you stroke it, the coin is a winner. Kudos!
I will see if I can read the mint and year for you...this might take sometime....time enough to whip out the Gobl.

Nice echizento
It seems a lot of these have flat areas that obscure or blunder the legends (like mine). Yours looks like it's all there.
I could never tell what they read, but I hope Anoob gets them for you.
BTW I find silver coins hard to photograph and these types particularly hard to bring out the detail.

Great coin! I collect such as well: just special persons and coins from the ancient times, to get a very varied collection
