The coin is late ancient Roman. Without the legend it's a little difficult to say for sure who it is though. Most likely it's either Constantine I (The Great) or his son Constantius II.

Thanks for the reply, I did think Constantine with looking through some of the coins on google but I couldn't find any with the same picture on the back, I've only been detecting a few weeks and finding it really interesting finding out about the coins

Actually I took a better look at the reverse and narrowed it down to either Constans or Constantius II.

I think from pics it may be a Constans AE centenialis, Fel temp reparatio reverse, ie. emperor on galley
Better pics would help or at least any lettering with/without gaps which you can make out and also (very important) weight and diameter.

either a US or NS at top right making it Constans or Constantius PF can also be seen so PF AUG most likely. What if any lettering is beneath the galley at the bottom, or 'exergue'

i see people on galley on reverse so it is probably constantivs II
