I have a 1 yuan coin from Taiwan that looks exactly like the ones they say were minted between 1960 and 1980. It is shiny and new, and as far as I can tell, the first four symbols (where the date usually is) are: year - nine - ten - four, which would be 2005, by my reckoning. (1911 + 94 = 2005)
Is Taiwain minting this same coin again? Or am I all off base with my chinese numbers?
You are reading the numbers backwards. (or more appropriately, forwards, while they should be read backwards). Instead of Yr 94, it is Yr 49, which is the original 1960 date.
