I received the coin today, and the OP images are totally wrong! They appear washed out and too bright. The coin is BEAUTIFUL! I hope that I can do justice to the colors in the meantime (working on them now) before it gets sent off to PCGS for imaging and certification (along with my 1860 IHC Pointed Bust, 1865 2C FS-1301 and 1869 5C FS-005.6) as a Christmas present to me.

As you can see, there has been a slight delay in posting my images (I could not capture a decent one), but I finally received the crossover to PCGS...and these two TPG'ers did not agree on this one; I would like to know their lighting set-up to produce this excellent images!

A quality dSLR/lens rig, and what looks like one high-angle light at about 2:00 to the coin on the obverse, and perhaps 10:00 on the reverse. What did PCGS think?

Then I was right. The $2500 or so a really_nice_rig would cost PCGS amortizes almost instantly via the money paid for better imaging.

Quote: Then I was right. Me too according to PCGS! There sure is a lot more luster in the later photos, even in the full NGC slab shot while the PCGS photo is superb! Lovely coin.
