Hello everyone,
i found a coin while we where fixing our house in Rhodes Greece and cant find anything about it... I hope someone can help me identify it....

The first picture shows the tughra (stylized signature) of a sultan of the Ottoman Empire. But then, Rhodes was part of the Turkish Ottoman Empire since 1522; modern Greece has only possessed it since 1947. Others may be able to help identify the time period and denomination, but if you could tell us the size, it would help.

The second picture shows the date in the Islamic calendar. The coin is rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise in the picture, so the date is the four figures along the right hand side. A little blurry, but seems to read ١٢٥٥, 1255 in Islamic digits, corresponding to the year 1839, the beginning of the reign of sultan Abdul Mejid.
My guess would be this 5 para coin of Ottoman Egypt, but this is not really my area, and I expect a more knowledgeable Forum member to come along and correct me shortly:

That's how most coins appear to me

Indeed it is a 5 Para Egypt 1255 (1839) and looks to be year 2 (Ù¢) but very difficult to see from the pics.
