Here's the Athens new style tet. I have not begun to research these, don't know if it's real at this point. Not great, not horrible, about as expected. And one of the nicer Romans, a Republican denarius with quadrigia. I didn't have any RR quadrigia coins, so it's a welcome addition.

I want to clarify-- I do not blame Stack's for my poor choice of purchase. They are a reputable dealer and I have purchased from them before and been satisfied (except for their slow billing and slow shipping preparation). They didn't technically misrepresent the lot, although I do think their estimate of value was too high.

Oh my...the toning on that denarius. TIF if that ever needs a new home think of me. I have a soft spot for toning. As for the Tet I think it is of good quality. Better even than some I have seen.
I wouldn't be too hard on yourself.

Also you shouldn't have too much of a hard time IDing the Republican denarius. I wanted to see other examples so I looked it up and it is on wildwinds. I won't ruin the fun for you though ;)

If the rest of the coins look like these two, you probably didn't do too bad.

The rest do not look like these two. There are several more coins in reasonable condition but most are dogs. Roman dogs. A few Greeks of identifiable quality, some with virtually no hope.
Maybe some rare or interesting dogs... won't know until I sit down with a magnifying glass (and a good imagination to fill in the worn and missing bits). Most have little to no ID, some have an emperor's name, some are clearly wrong.

I have no reason to think the Athens NST is a fake. Its worn down to my grade, but certainly not a fake. Kudos! I want one!

Pish, they're in flips. To take each out and create a pile would be far to big a hassle. I may post some small group pics as I go through them.
First I need to make a simple list and put them in groups.
There are a few of higher value but in general, based on the general time of issue and condition... well, maybe there are some less common varieties but it's going to involve a lot of squinting and going through ERIC or other Imperial references.

Some other coins arrived yesterday too-- yummy ones, individual lots-- so that's cheered me up :D
I appreciate your efforts. It's just been a very trying and tiring week and I'm a bit toxic of humanity right now.
