hi! I just got this Ethiopia Birr and got stuck trying to identify the KM Krause# for it, any info appreciated thanks!

The cap on the Obv head is standard 1889 km5 but the script under the Lion rev looks to be another km#. I can't locate a km# that has the same Obv and Rev of this coin.

It's KM 5. What are you seeing different about the script under the lion? It looks normal for this type.

Hi Numismat, thanks for your post reply, yes it is an 1889 1 Birr km#5 for my Obv per Krause 1800 catalog but km#5's REV lion script is different. On the other hand, looking at the Rev for my Lion script, it appears for km#19 but km#19's Obv has a different head cap design. I cant find a km# that has both Obv and Rev as shown on my uploaded pictures. It appears to be a variant that is unlisted
