This coin is part of a recent group of coins that my grandfather gave me. The coin has what looks like the apostles in the front ( PE ET PA) and in the back the writings SCALA SANCTA (HOLY STAIRS)
I am not certain of the origin, if it is a coin or medal, metal used, dates, ?

Any information regarding this coin/medal would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance ...

It doesn't look like a coin. I presume it's a religious medal, likely sold as a souvenir to pilgrims/visitors to Rome.

Pope Pius was inaugurated in 1925 I believe and his inauguration was the first where lots and lots of touristical Vatican tokens where issued in large quantities, which where sold at the Piazza San Pietro at Rome.
