I have a Newfoundland penny 1940 labelled re-engraved but I don't see it. Is it re-engraved? Thoughts? Thanks so much.

We would need closeups on the date. Do you see anything like what's happening on the cent in this auction?

Chequer, I have a regular digital cam with macro. I'll try and get an extreme close up. So it's the '9' and '40' I should be looking at, right? Thanks.

I'm not seeing any definite sign of re-engraving on the date, but it could be the photos just aren't close enough. Perhaps someone more familiar with this variety will chime in to see if this looks like it - the nine shows promise, but I'm not sure. If you have a magnifying loupe, examine the date yourself for any signs of doubling like what is shown in the ebay photos on the known variety coin.
