....having an auction, and also having a separate listing for the same coin in a BIN. I'm new at this, but can't understand how ebay can allow an auction and a separate BIN for the same coin. I sent the seller a message about it and he said that whoever buys it first wins. Really? I also reported it to ebay last Friday and they did nothing. What am I missing? Here's a link to the coin, and you can see the BIN in the sellers other items.

So if someone Buys it Now, then all the people who bid in good faith are SOL.

Once someone opens a bid on the coin, the BIN is no longer in play.

According to the ebay policies, the seller can cancel any bid at any time without giving any explanation (before the bidding is over) so it someone buy if "now" he would cancel all the bids and game over.

Not sure if I made myself clear. There are TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT LISTINGS. One is an auction and one is a fixed price BIN. How can this be? Maybe I'm going crazy, but it's a short trip anyway :-)

I believe you get charged the final value now if you just wipe the bids clear.

I dont think youre supposed to be able to double list like that, but with the amount of things they need to police fakes are much higher on the priority list would be my best guess.

You made me look at their listings. There's no other 22 no D auction or BIN listed.

The link I posted still works and the auction has ended as it states. So I went to his other listings and the BIN listing for that same coin is now gone....he obviously ended it. So he got $404 for the coin, and nobody Bought It Now for the $795 he had it at. Still doesn't seem right to me. What if somebody Bought It Now.....he'd end the auction with some lame excuse and ebay would be none the wiser. I wanted to bid on the coin, but my conscience wouldn't allow it.

I actually dont really have a problem with it if he ends it as soon as theres one bid, but I dont understand why he didnt just put the BIN attached to the auction listing like most people do.

Good point. Though if I'm not mistaken, I think a BIN attached to a bid situation would automatically end after one bid. IMO he was just seeing if somebody unaware would grab the BIN during the auction. It was a sneaky move on his part and ebay didn't catch it. I reported both listings last Friday, but ebay did nothing. Oh well.
