I have noticed that the new Union Shield cents have a lot less detail on Lincolns face, most noticeably on his beard. The LMC from the 90's and onward show his beard in full detail, but after that it just seems to blend in with his cheek. Can anyone tell me why this is?

They most likely are just being cheap and trying to cut costs. It also makes the dies last longer.

need to compare it to coins of the 60s or if ya got a nice 1909 compare it. they will look more like a 2013 than one from 90s, Mint really goofed with Abes beard for most of the zincs. To me it looks like spaghetti.
