I either got an excellent deal or these are re-strikes as the original dies were discovered. I asked the auction house if they were original or restrikes 3 times and got no reply.

Have to post the link as the copy function is problematic on I-Collector.

Your asking a question? I assume you want to know if they are genuine or restrike? Can you tell us about the history of these tokens( I have never seen them before)

Endless info on these on google and they were struck in aluminium and magnesium......the latter being more valuable due to the deterioration of the metal. They were designed to make Jews think they would be reimbursed after the war and to ensure those outside the ghetto did not trade with Jews inside.

The tokens, both coins and notes, get a mention in the Wikipedia article on the ghetto. The Lodz ghetto tokens are extremely collectable. A couple of months ago I paid AU$170 for a 10 mark token in EF condition, from a local dealer who specializes in German coins and tokens.

He also told me there were tons of fakes around, and proceeded to instruct me on how to tell his was fair dinkum. Apparently the dies used to make the fakes were master dies, not the actual working dies, so there are diagnostic die chips etc from the working dies to look for. On the 10 mark token, so I was told, a good diagnostic is a tiny shallow triangular die chip below the "A" in MARK. Here's mine, with the die chip area magnified; the chip is somewhat obscured on mine by a large brown pit right next to it, but it's there.

I can't tell from your pics whether your 10 mark is good or not. We'll have to wait for your own pics in hand.

Sorry, but I believe all three are restrikes. The 10 and 20 mark appear to have vertical striations, these are likely polishing lines from refurbishing of the old dies. Such striations are a common feature of many types of restrikes. It's usually easier to tell them apart for the magnesium ones because you expect a certain level of deterioration from magnesium over 70 years.

Awful copies. In Poland you can buy them for 3,25$/each.
