a picture says it all, what do you think Charles I or II, wonder if it could have been defaced by a parliamentarian if it is for the first. 27mm only 2gram - paper thin

From a set of counters from 1632 of the Sovereigns of England, from Edward the Confessor on. They all stated the dates of the the sovereign's reign, except this, the penultimate in the series, of the reigning monarch, Charles I. Interestingly, the series excluded Elizabeth I, featuring Mary Queen of Scots instead. If there was deliberate defacement here, perhaps it was religious, rather than political?

removing the kings head would seem a strange place to pierce it for wearing as a supporter so religious or political he certainly stirred strong feelings, I don't see much chance of finding the rest of them so will probably pass it on.

Thanks again for all the help, I really do try to make the forum a place of last resort for when I come to a full stop in my investigations and hope you all don't get fed up with my cries for help.
