I don't want to get over anxious, and we're not talking about a lot of money. I won an auction fair and square 5pm Saturday. I thought I might have gotten a good deal. Maybe too good. My fear is that the seller won't ship and come up with some excuse. I don't want to jump the gun, so how many days should I wait before contacting. We're in day 3 now, and Christmas is tomorrow, so I figured I'd wait until at least after Christmas. Thanks. Ed

Youre really only at 1 day in all honesty. Post office was already closed saturday and only major distribution hubs in cities are open at all on sunday.

I would wait until Friday given Christmas is on Wed

Ed, I'm assuming you paid as soon as you won the auction. Well, the first thing is that it wouldn't ship till Monday at the earliest; Sunday being a non shipping day for the Post Office. Most of us ship all of our sales at the same time; usually at the end of the business day. So say he shipped Monday afternoon/evening. If he shipped it in a first class letter it would take 1 to 3 business days to ship. So at that point you would have received it no earlier than Tue and ( with Christmas) more likely on Thursday or Friday. If he sent it in a Parcel ( large envelope, either non bendable or uneven surfaces over a quarter inch thick, it will definitely NOT get there till around Saturday to this coming Monday. Remember that shipping is defined by business days and not by calender days. And Sunday and Holidays are not worked by the USPS. If you put it in the box at the Post Office, after 5pm on Saturday, it will sit there till the first truck leaves on Tour Three ( I used to work for the USPS) on Monday morning. So just assume it wasn't shipped till Monday, and remember the heavy volume for the Holidays and don't worry about it till the this weekend or monday. And finally you have 30 days to start a case.

Auctions are marked to say how fast the seller ships - if it's not in the item description itself, it'll be on the Shipping & Payments tab. Right underneath the shipping charge(s), it will have:

Quote:
Handling time
Will usually ship within 2 business days of receiving cleared payment.

Or 1 business day, etc. So you need to at least give them that amount of time to ship before getting anxious

Some sellers also may not know that they need to upload tracking information to let the buyer know the item has shipped at all (I've run into a few of those). A polite request after Christmas for a tracking number, if you have not heard anything by then, would not be a bad thing.

Thanks for the shared support. Yes I paid immediately. It's only $6.85 w/free shipping. Shipping says USPS First Class package. At worst it's a stamp on an envelope, at best a $1.69 w/tracking. He does say usually ships within 2 business days and the estimated delivery date is 12/27-12/31.

I would have shipped Monday and at least indicated that item had shipped in my selling history if there was no automatic tracking from the label purchase. All your suggestions are good.....no need to panic, it's only been a couple of days. Friday is plenty of time to politely contact and inquire.

Again, thanks for the suggestions. This is a very busy week. I sold something last night and already contacted the buyer and told them I might not be able to ship until Thursday. Merry Christmas. Ed
