Hi, help to identify please, ideas please...
My dad just found this with his metal detector in Cheshire England, please see images

At first thought was two coins stuck together but now think one token mounted in a coin size back with edges a bit like putting the coin as a crust onto a pie casing.

The back has a bit like a potin cast where can see where cut from a strip and has what looks like a volcano type vase with sort of tenacle type flowers, whereas the coin/token is very woen but does seen to have a vertical line across the base part from 7 to 5 o clock and at about 2 o clock a letter a, so late celtic / roman? will try to post more pics as may be too large in one go

Looks like a lead seal to me; the line on the edge is where the cord the seal was attached to once passed through.

it is bronze not lead and has cleaned up better since does have a gap to feed a cord so looks like will hang but then images upside down of like a flowering bushel so perhap seal rather than necklace

It does appear to be a seal. Odd if it is bronze. Maybe its a slide? The idea of using lead was that it was malleable and could be struck when impressing to hold the bag closed (and it made it much easier to impress an image on).
