Another of these seemingly 'rare' British 1971 2p coins in 'excellent' condition - but this must be one of the worst ones - and worst photography - that I've seen!

NumisRob, ouch! I saw the mintage number for those, and it's by no means "rare" as the stupid sellers say they are.

It seems like a LOT of people think these coins are rare. What' the story on the "New Pence" and why do so many listing ask for hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

Just curious.

All UK decimal coins up to 1981 had 'New Pence' on the reverse. This changed to the denomination in pence from 1982. However, a handful of mule 2p coins have been found bearing the 'New Pence' reverse but dated 1983. This has led some people to think that any of the 'New' coins are valuable, whereas in fact most have enormous mintages.

I saw this one this morning and had to laugh.

(sarcasm on)
This coin is clearly "AU". I always look for the completely smooth surfaces and lack of detail when I'm looking for an AU coin.
(sarcasm off)

Okay, so other than the fake Trade dollar and the fake Morgan dollar, this $150 lot is okay, right?

That 1892 Barber half dollar is indeed AU - almost uncollectable.

Both of those dollars are really bad, but the Trade dollar is also huge and a really bad fake.
