I bought this nice sestertius for just 32 euros including shipping, while it is a lot more worth comparing it with munzeo and vcoins. Very nice, good price too. Full legends, not a common thing for this period. Its also got a good size...my only Sestertius of the period is highly reduced.

Nice coin with good patination. Well centered and full legends. I like the coloration (green/black) surface is a bit coarse but what the hey ........ 3 out of 4 is pretty good ! She looks like a tough woman. But I suppose that was part of the job description.
PS. Looks like I have some competition around here now for these things. I don' t even have one of these ! What hath I wrot !

This coin has had some tooling, which was most probably required in the cleaning process after recovery from burial. Note legend in front of the face and around the cornucopia.
Nevertheless, quite a nice piece for the money. congrats!

When the 'modification' only scrapes away surface materials I am more inclined to call just that . Minor surface scraping. I reserve the term 'tooling' for the awful vandalism that seems to be more common on German ebay. Nice Sestertii I have seen with bizarre haircuts and curls which look like bad perms. Tooling is for me too harsh a term for what while perhaps "inadvisable" does not actually cut into the metal and require chemical remedies to fix the patination. There is no clear standard for this and we both agree it is a negative. Personally I will tolerate a small amount provided the price is right.
