first picture shows the best doubling - easily split serifs on the G and fairly clear elongation of the dots between D, G & R. The second pic shows clear doubling on REG. Serifs are split all the way down to the field.

From what we can tell these are pretty rare? only saw a few posts. this is a coin my dad found in circulation in the US - near Pittsburgh, PA. My dad is an avid coin collector for like 40 years and he said that these should be pretty rare and this coin is in good shape.

Please let me know if you have any inout. Thanks in advance for your help.

They are quite scarce... I just published a column about this very same coin/variety in the most recent CN Journal. Too early to tell about scarcity, we don't know if this was produced on one or more dies... sadly, there is no collector demand for this variety, yet...

SPP - Ottawa - Thanks for your response. We figured they were quite rare. If there is little or no collector demand for this variety - then I am assuming it is not worth much and should be held onto for a while.
