After years of frustration (tough to admit), with help from CCF I am now able to take pretty good coin photos. This is fantastic! Thanks!

The 1812 Capped Bust half came out pretty good. Pretty nice details.

Any and all advice welcome.
I'm using a Nikon Coolpix L16, macro mode of course. As I zoom in on the coin a bar graph upper right of view display turns green indicating auto focus locked on to the coin. I can zoom in and out a little and get OK pics anywhere in the green zone. I have not done much with color or exposure settings. I believe they are set to default. I'll check.
I use a small tripod with the camera spaced about 6" from the coin, closer for small cents.
So far Iv'e only used 1 light source, a 60 watt equivalent Natural or Daylight LED in an old gooseneck desk lamp. I want to add a secondary light source and experiment .
I'll try to get a photo of the tripod/lamp positions but
the flash doesn't work on this camera, probably why I found it in a box of other treasures I grabbed at an estate sale 5 years ago or so. It is my first digital camera.
The way Iv'e been carrying on you'd think I split the atom. Many of you take great pictures all the time. Sorry if I've been a little over the top. Thanks to all.

You have split the atom, in a sense. The results you're getting are on the very upper end of what a camera like yours should be capable of, according to the laws of physics. By all means, experiment; I'd like to see what your camera is capable of when you well and truly maximize its' potential.
