Stay tuned for the auction and see how much uncle takes to make it a legit coin, Even though there could be from the story as many as 13 other pieces out there. they were never monitised.

This is great! Whatever this coin nets at auction, this is the type of news that is good for us collectors (especially a Lincoln collector like myself). The more people reading up on this coin, the more people looking at their loose change which may bring more people into the community (no pun intended).

How interesting. Every day I learn something new. Coming to this forum I learn a few things each day.

Aluminum coins wear very easy and are so very light they feel like toy plastic money. I've also noticed that (with world coins) only very poor countries ever use Aluminum coins. I'm glad the USA never went ahead with changing the Lincoln 1c to Aluminum.

Very interesting! You suppose we'll see the government try to seize this one? And if not, how many more will come out of the woodwork?

I expect that Uncle Sam will get his cut to "legalize" the coin, similar to the way the 33 double eagle was legalized.

Zakgold, I agree that this is great for Lincoln collectors and the entire numismatic community for that matter. this is a case of all publicity is good publicity.

Remembering when they were struck and that the mint never offically released them I would say that the federal boys will jump in an grab it. By law it is still property of the U.S. Government.

Yeah my money is on the men in black coming to snatch the coin away, then a long legal battle and finally a split between the government and the person that "owns" it currently.

Is possession not nine tenth of the law ?
Anyway on all the forums I post only one forum
has a lawyer who confessed to his job
( he is Canadian )
Either lawyers do not do coin or investment forums
or they do not advertise their job

There are a number on PCGS forums who are lawyers. Adrian Crane comes readily to mind but there are several others too.
