I've seen a few slabbed coins offered for sale with a * designation after the grade (ie ms66*) and have yet to find anywhere what that * means. It's probably fairly obvious, but as a new guy in the collecting world it's throwing me for a loop. Thanks in advance.

It basically means it has better eye appeal then it is graded as. (So say it's an MS-65 but the toning makes it look higher/better and so it gets a star.)

Take that CAC, we don't need you anymore. NGC has a star (*) and PCGS has a plus (+)

I've said it before and I repeat it now:
To avoid frustration, coin collectors need to exercise humor.
The search does not often yield results.
