We're not to far away from the 2014 business strikes coming out. I remember the very first 2009 P nickel and dimes went for like a $100 each for the first month or so. I forgot to follow the subsequent years initial prices. I know production was higher subsequently. Does anyone remember how much, in the first month, the nickels and dimes went for in any of the following years (2010- 2013)?

The later years were nothing special. The 2009's took off so much for a couple of reasons. First they came out much later than normal because the fed had been flooded with a huge amount of coins in 2008 after the economy crashed. The Fed fills orders from banks using circulated coins first, then older unc coins, and then finally the new coins. Secondly the mint announced the discontinuance of production for the year before the first coins even appeared in the market. So before they were even out it was already known that they were the lowest mintage coins for the denomination in the past fifty years.

Thanks Conder. I forgot the mint made that announcement, before the coins hit the market. I just remember a member here (rodzm?) selling single nickles and dimes for over $100 for like 3 months. Then a few months later the singles went to $10-15 and he was still getting $100+ a roll. Explains why later years were stagnant.
