They are beautiful. Can you show the obverse side? It is ashame they changed the design (top one) from the way it looked on the other three.

A few years back I got the 500 balboas with first day cover and cert from the Franklin mint second hand on ebay germany They must have been minting 24 hours to get them all out on the FDC

I was seriously remiss in not showing the obverse. This is to the 1934 coin:

In the Netherlands it is impossible to get the 1953 version of the Balboa, and it is years now standing at the top of my wanting list. Strange enough it is easy to find all other years from 1931,1934 and 1947, but I do not know what has happened to 1953; I have never seen 1 in my life for real. You ought to make me very happy? Also the values with all the different employees of the Panama-canal zone are nowhere to be found over here.

Eric: The 1953's had a mintage of only 50,000, so that date is rarer than the others; however, it sells for less than the '31 and '34 in unc. I have a few of them, and would be happy to do a trade after I get to 50 posts.

Those are some gorgeous coins. Wish I could of gotten a few more Balboa's when I lived in Panama. As it is all mine are circulated coins and no where near the dates you guys have. Most everyone used US currency so the 1/2s were hard to come by for a 10 yr old at the time.
