Hi all, A guy that has just started buying from me has just purchased 2 coins from ebay.. I think they are both wrong. Here is the first :- sellers description :- Julius Caesar, 49 - 44 BC. Silver Denarius. North Africa, 47/6 BC. Diad. head of Venus rt. Rev. CAESAR, Aeneas moving left. carrying Anchises on his shoulder and the Palladium. Sear 1402. Good Very Fine.   You will never soar like an eagle if you hang around with turkeys.....

Looks like casting pearls on the obverse and pitting on the reverse, again caused by casting bubbles. I am no expert but I wouldn't buy this.

I know the seller xarioteer, this coin was sold for about 300euros

Thats right, he paid £255.
Whats the verdict here then, I think it's cast same as PP.
Any other views?

Seller is "on the list", I have bought from him before with no problems, but I am a bit careful. I would ask for my money back.

I wouldnt buy it. Something looks strange but I cant put my finger on it. My mom has that same kind of coin and something looks out of place

This piece doesn't look right to me especially in the appearance of the lettering. It almost looks like to was added later along with the what appears to be numerous casting bubbles on the reverse.

Haha there are so many lists, I'm sorry. I even saw a 'reputable coindealer' list on ebay with this seller on it.. what can we trust? |
