This is your find? Looks like a republican denarius to me - the veiled bust is a deified person, be it a consul, an ancestor, whatever. I dont recognise the type though.

Does the figure on the reverse have wings?

Not a find this one, still shuffling through some I swapped a while back. Not had chance to get out with 'eddy' for a while now. The woman/person on the reverse does seem to have wings PP. I was looking at ERIC, could it be Livia? It's a bit big for a denarius, it's just over 24 mm.

This isn't your coin, it is on wildwinds http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/...RPC_1438.jpgThe figure on the reverse might help you pin it down. Livia(?), AE17 Assaria of Koinon of Thessaly. Struck under Claudius. 4.05 g. Antigonos, strategos. QESSALWN, draped bust right (Livia or Apollo?) / ANTIGONOU STRATHG, Artemis Ennodia running right, holding torch in each hand; monogram to right. BCD Thessaly II 928; RPC 1438.

The last picture I posted is from wildwinds, the firs coin is mine. The head looks like quite a good match to me but can't find the reverse. Whats the coin in that link?

Oh right. The one I was looking at on wildwinds was this one http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/...34_right.jpg Livia, AE23 3-Assaria of Koinon of Thessaly. Struck under Claudius. 11.78 g. Antigonos, strategos. QESSALWN [S]EBASTHWN, veiled female head (Livia?) right, wearing stephane / STRATH[GOU A]NTIGONOU, the nymph Larissa standing left, holding ball in her right hand; monogram to left. Burrer Em. 1, Series 2, 27.3 (this coin); BCD Thessaly II 924.1; RPC 1434. The head looked similar, but it could be anyone like Ben said. I will keep looking for a match on the reverse.

Interesting coin, I can't add much other than it does look like a provincial.

I think together we are almost there. I think Ben was close in the first place, it does look provincial. Just been looking at a few types here . http://www.edgarlowen.com/roman-imp...aesars.shtml Still no sign of a reverse match though... might have to place it on the ever growing 'dont know' pile till I spot something close. *republican... sorry.... getting late!

It's a base metal PP. Bronze I think or a dark toned copper.
* I think copper.
