Ok, I'm 61. Qualifies for Geezer. Been MD'ing for eight years. Wanted to start much earlier but just couldn't afford one that would do what I wanted. I got one at a garage sale for dirt cheap. Less than half maybe a third of what they were selling for on ebay. A Garrett GTA1000. The technology has been surpassed but I'm not in the position now to get a better detector. It still finds goodies though.

I actually started in August of 2007. When my wife passed in 1995 I had to spend almost all my time raising my two daughters. They are now grown and I have nothing but time now. I started just to get me out of the house and now I can't get enough of it. My oldest daughter thinks I spend too much time MDing. She thinks I need too spend more time looking for a female companion. I totally disagree.
