Guess the grade, and there's something else going on with this coin, can anyone guess what it is?

From my perspective, which isn't very experienced especially with this type of coin, AU. The area above the eye looks like it has a little wear, but I could be dead wrong.

I noticed that the 'U' in "United" is missing, though : )

EF ? the back seems to be much more worn than the front. Also the top part of the back rim looks much more worn than the bottom. Also, where the heck is the U in United?

Zacharycash is so far the closest with what is going on with the coin. I'm not saying anything about the grade until later.

Misaligned die? That would make this a near-Mint State coin.

It's bent. Graded by ANACS as AU50 details. I figured that for $85 it's not a bad price compared to the holed ones/jewelery pieces that actually affect the look of the coin. I've looked at it and I can't see why it's bent.

Amazon, have you liberated this gal from the slab yet? Pretty good deal for $85, 3 x melt, a nice slanted 5 for the type set.
Rest in Peace

How in Heavens name could anyone guess it was bent without clear multiple edge views of the coin? Was the clue supposed to be in the wear patterns? I've never read anything identifying wear patterns associated with a bent coin. This was one tough guessing game!!!Mike

Mike, I guess I wasn't 100% fair, but those were the pictures that I had from teletrade. I have her still in the slab, and I can't tell that it's bent. I just wanted to see if there really was a way to distinguish a slightly bent coin from a photo, and I guess not.

Was the bend vertical, from 12:00-6:00, with the reverse being the inward side? If so, in hindsight I can see it.

Actually there's a slight bend from 9:00-12:00. It looks like it's at 12:00-6:00 because the slab is placing a shadow on that spot.
