OK....after reading the various posts of searching half dollar boxes, I placed an order last week and they came in today! I've done more rolls than I can remember, and I've done boxes of the other denominations....but not half dollars!

So....I'll be spending some time opening rolls and adding to my "Coin Box Census" spreadsheet. Being a record-keeper I won't know right away if there is any silver in this box of ore....but hey....you can't be a winner if you don't play the game.....right?

I can already tell from edge inspection that I have two NIFCs....a 2007D and a 2010D. The other treasures, if any, lie beneath the surface, and if there will surface during my refinement.

I can't help but wonder if any of those counterstamped JFKs I've done over the years are in this box.

My "dump" bank will be another Wells Fargo branch, where I'll deposit these in savings, or perhaps recycle into letters of credit from the Federal Reserve. We'll see.

Right now I'm like a kid in a candy shop.

I'll post notable finds, if any, in the already on-going thread about half dollar roll searching.

When you order a box, do you have to pay for them in advance or when they show up?

No. Not in my case.

Being an avid Where's George enthusiast, the tellers are quite used to my asking for straps of ones, twos, and fives, and I've never been asked for a fee or even why I make these kinds of orders.

They'd probably call the men in the white coats if I *don't* make an unusual order!

I might have to stop in tomorrow and see if I can pick up a box of something this weekend. Good luck on yours!

I'm glad I did this, even though after 160 coins searched I've turned up only one NIFC (2007D) that's a keeper. I know I have two more of those NIFCs awaiting emergence.

This is fun! I have a feeling I'll be recycling $50 worth on my next bank visit. I am setting aside some for my counterstamping hobby.

Be on the lookout for proofs as they have been known to appear in rolls from time to time. I think I have gotten 4 out of $3000+ searched. Also let us know if Ben makes an appearance!

Yes, proofs! Getting them would be cool! I'd also like to get one of those gold-plated halves and one of my own counterstamps back (I've sent out over 1300 counterstamped JFKs).

I've searched 18 rolls so far and 4 NIFCs have popped out; 3 of 2007P and 1 2007D. The one with the 2010D on the end will be opened tomorrow as that I'm calling it a night. None of the 2007s are quite as good as what I've already got and I'm not sure if I should hold on to them, or offer them in trade.

My gut feeling is that I'm on my way to a skunking silver-wise, but it's like fishing. If you come home emptyhanded, well, you were still out there!

I have scored on every first of a new denomination box I've searched.

The only new box left is a box of dollar coins.

Good luck.

Why on earth do you feel the need to deface this coinage, what purpose does it serve?

It's not counterstamped but certainly deFACEd in the nicest possible way.
