Hello,
I have been collecting coins for a little while now and I am wanting to get into collecting uncirculated coins. Where do some of you guys get uncirculated pennies, dimes and nickles?
Thanks,
JCoins

If you want sets I would go through the US mint for new coins. You should be able to find some on ebay also. I'm sure other people here have places to go.

Newer years you can usually still find in bank rolls if you go through enough, but eBay/coin store/trade with people/us mint for the current year/coin shows. If youre doing a lot of denominations getting mint sets can be easier then hunting them one by one.

Unfortunatly The US mint only sells dollar coins half dollars and quarters in bags or rolls. Maybe I should ask my local banks?

Are you looking for currently circulated coins? If so, just run over to the bank and pick up some rolls of each denomination and start searching. :) If you have the cash flow you could do a box of each and pretty much fill a good portion of the clad series in a few days, and probably uncirculated as well! Then, as you desire, just grab random rolls or boxes and upgrade away! With some patience I don't see this being impossible. I guess some of the nickles would be hard from what I read in the roll hunting pages (50's) but still a fun way to do it. I've often thought about starting to buy mint sets from 65 to current so I would have everything and they are readily available on ebay indivisually or in sets. I've been warned however that there are many years that notorious for spots, having, PVC damage etc. But if you did it right, they would be guaranteed uncirculated. Good luck!

Most coin shops have tons of uncirculated coins (or at least mine does) They are very easy to find.

Quote: Thanks I will check out my local shop. Makes me wonder where these shops get them. Not sure about all of them but many just order completed sets of Uncirculated coins from the US Mint. If you look it up on the internet, you too could order almost anything they sell and they love it since they make money on you. Many dealers also order Proof sets and break them up to sell separately. Same with the Uncirculated ones. Selling each coin gets a massive profit since they sell each coin for more than the total of the set. If your looking for just sort of Uncirculated coins, then just getting rolls from a bank will eventually get you some rather uncirculted coins. However, remember that almost any coin that has gone through a machine to roll them will leave marks on the coins. Although close to uncirculated, they will have marks, dents, dings, scratches, etc. Some may not have many and some may look like they've been in a war. All depends on what you want in UNCIRCULATED. AND if you could find a coin show, you would find that possibly a dealer or more will be selling older Uncirculated sets.

if you go to the bank and ask for a box of pennies, I guarantee that you will get alot of UNC pennies. either, you will get a solid box of 2013(D if applicable) OR the mix box that I always get. I am getting on average around 10 UNC pennies per roll (usually 10,11,12,13) but sometimes some 1990's ones. and you can get these for face, so it's a nice place to start.
