Saw it on ebay and IMHO its a miss. I would have thought the Mint would have selected a more appealing or mainstream Dino.

I agree that the Tiktaalik doesn't have the mass appeal of a T-Rex or Brontosaurus, but in terms of important dinosaur discoveries it is a "cool" beast that was discovered in Canada (which was a key factor in selecting it).

I ordered two of them to complete my two sets. I personally like the design, it's something unique and iv'e never seen this type of dinosaur before. The price is good too so it's a win-win for me.

I know many people would have preferred a more mainstream dinosaur, but I've kinda enjoyed seeing these. They are unconventional and this might add to their collectibility (if that's a word) in the long run. There are coins featuring T-rex et al, although perhaps not from RCM, but where else are you going to find Tiktaalik, Tylosaurus, Quetzalcoatlus and Pachyrhinosaurus. It's a refreshing change from the trend of repeated polar bears and caribous in some of their wildlife-based coins.

I agree completely with you Ravenzcoin, it's about time we see some refreshing designs at the Mint.

I'm pleased that common dinosaurs were not selected - I think the more esoteric selections make for more interesting coins.

I think it's a great pick for the coin.

I like it too. It's nice to see a smiling prehistoric creature for a change. They're usually all grumpy and sad.

I guess they are going to start a new series of grow in dark like they did on glass bugs coin.

I surprised, that the coin is still available and not "Awaiting stock". The second one, with less attractive design, very quickly moved to "Awaiting Stock" (but later was available again).
The 1-st coin has won COTY Award, and my assumption was, that after this, the series will become as "most wanted"...
Hope, this is the last one. No need to "spread" innovative base coins series over the years. And probably it better do not start another GITD, although it will be smart to run something in parallel to "Birds"

The 2nd one moved so quick because folks are trying to flip them. It also happen to be the one that can easily purchase in secondary market at cost or below cost
