Yeah its an old scratch. An for the cent, would you recommend getting it graded? I'm not sure how you put a value on details. Thanks.

When a coin is damaged, cleaned, tooled, whizzed, corroded(which your coin is), etc. the value can go down significantly. I would expect to get Good condition money for this. Had it not been corroded, it would have been an amazing coin. Don't get me wrong, it's still a very nice coin that I would like to have

I mostly bought the cent because of how nice the reverse is.

Which is completely fine, but now the question is how much you paid for it.

But on a different note, the Capped Bust Half is a very nice coin, one coin type that I have yet to aquire

The bust half is an O-106 R2, unless it has a die crack from edge between stars 11 and twelve to curls, making it an O-106a R3. I'd say VF-25 scratched. IMO not a coin to TPG.

The cent is in tough shape, still a keeper. I don't know enough about this large cent to offer an opinion.

1830 = VF details due to scratch
1798 = VF details due to environmental damage

Grade both at VF30 details. 1798 could go 35 but I don't think it would matter as the damage is pretty bad but then again its well over 200 yrs!
