I was just listing a bunch of individual nickels, all with various dates from the 'teens when I noticed something odd.

The "Item Specifics" area seems to be trying to "guess" at the year of the coin you're listing in the field named "YEAR" based on what you say in the TITLE. I never, ever, EVER fill that out because I'm always afraid I'll forget to change it when I use the "sell similar" feature to copy over most of the information to the next coin I intend to list. The ONLY two things I ever fill out in the item specifics are the Mint Location and whether the coin is circulated or UNC.

So I was listing a 1916-D when I noticed this and it had actually filled in 1916 for me. I decided to leave it in there and just pay close attention to the next coin I listed.

The next coin I listed was a 1914. The "YEAR" field still said 1916. I left it alone and went through the whole procedure for listing the coin and it NEVER changed it over to 1914, even after I listed it. After I listed it I had to go back and edit it out. (I didn't CHANGE it to 1914 because I didn't want that date perpetuated when/if I ever use that listing for a "sell similar" template.)

I wondered if I could be imagining the whole thing so I started a new listing for a 1915. After entering the title I scrolled down and 1915 was in the YEAR field under Item Specifics.

They must have some kind of (theoretically) "helpful, intuitive" software that has the hiccups.

Its because youre using the sell similar feature. When you use that link its literally an exact copy of the listing you selected and you cant really edit any of the fields.

Most people learn this the hard way including myself. Now I always start fresh and just copy and paste everything from an old listing so I can still fill out all the filters as people do use them browsing.

Thanks for the heads up. I just listed several IHC's and didn't catch on, I had to go back and fix a few of the listings
