Spain, Tarraconensis
Lepida-Celsa, Augustus 27 BC - 14 AD
Illviri L Baggius Mn Flavius Festus. AE 29.
Laureate head / Bull
RPC.273. aXF, dark brown patina.

This in fact the first Roman piece in my collection to feature the portrait of an emperor. Augustus, possibly being my favorite emperor, has been on my list for some time. It would not be a surprise to discover I paid retail; the damage will be revealed a bit later. The dealer, one of the very few ancient coin specialists in the area, is known for his stiff prices but I did get a small discount. Comment is invited on the piece, the dealer's attribution and value. Thanks for reading.

Well, I for one, love it. I love the expression on the bull's face. I have a few Augustus coins, none as nice as yours. Congrats on a great buy :)

These types are famous for being off centered and a bit 'rough'. This one is quite sharp both obverse and reverse ! A bit of cleaning might remove the remaining 'dirt' from the surfaces. Your photo is decent but the light backround makes the dark colored coin lack contrast. I think the coin is an VF/EF and would command a very respectable price around $100.

Try reshooting the photos. A dark pair of bluejeans will give you a better backround
I actually use a pair of black jeans as backround !
