Coins that are delivered in an auction come in individual PVC pockets. At least, that has always been my experience.
I keep them, but I don't know why. I never use any of them for any of my coins.

When I receive them, the coins are always removed and put into annotated Mylar / cardboard flips, then into NON PVC album pockets.

Yes they are PVC. They will often have something in the fine print saying that they are for temporary storage only.

So once you get your auction winning make sure you transfer it into something else for permanent storage.

I have no idea why they still do this, a heat sealed saflip is a far better option and just as cheap.

I don't know I have a MS64-5 canberra florin in a status international sleeve which it arrived in arround 8 or so months ago prehaps longer and I think I have a MS62 centenary florin in a noble's one for a little longer than a year and nothing has happened to either coin. Mind I did try the status sleeve and it was flexible somewhat and no where does it say on their mailing that it is for temporary storage nor in their terms and conditions. Tho I do have the utmost confidence in the ethics of both businesses based on previous dealings they are both great auction houses.

I would remove them from that junky storage and put them in good 2x2's or saflips.
You may even consider getting them slabbed

Yeah I have considered getting the Canberra slabbed by the way there is no sign of any PVC on the coin so would it be safe? cause I haven't got anything at home to treat for PVC.

I have sent emails to both Noble Auctions and Status International asking for confirmation on this. I will keep you all posted on what happens.

If I bought an MS64-65 Canberra and it had PVC damage due to the shoddy packaging I would demand my money back and get them to shove the coin where the sun doesn't shine.
Maybe that would remove the PVC

I have gotten a response from Noble stating this exactly:
"The plastic has slight PVC.
Coins stored in them have been okay for 20 years.
You should put into nylon (non PVC) plastic flips."
This is commendable of Noble auctions for being honest, responding in a timely manner and that the flips last quite a time without the PVC separating or infecting the coins in the slightest.

Status International has not yet given me an answer but has confirmed the email has been forwarded to their numismatics department. Worried still about Status International's answer as my Centenary and Canberra florins are from there and they were numerous month's wages for me.
