I have been watching 1916 SLQ's on E-BAY for a little while, and the dateless slab-less ones are often humorous in the sellers description. "was shown to several experts and they all agreed it is a 1916" or " took it to several coin dealers and they felt strongly its a 1916". This one has me a little curious. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1916-25C-St...em3f303b932e To me at least, what is left of the diagnostics all clearly show a 1917, pictures are of decent quality. What is odd is as of this post it is 113.00, no returns and a new seller. In the past these seem to be exposed for what they are, and go for not much more than melt. Any thoughts?

Sit back and watch the foolishness of buyers bidding on a title only.
It's a 1917.

Somebody is going to be mighty disappointed. All you have to do is check the markers on this coin to know it is a 1917.

Lets see what his reason is. Even on phone between customers at work I could see it is a 17.

Ends in less than 5 hrs now, and bid is up to almost $150. Someone is going to be disappointed, and even if they realize in time what they have bought and get a refund, there will still be money lost to the post office for shipping.

Quote: Very rare but not sure if it is for sure! IMHO Seller knows - funny how his first sale was a roll of wheat cents and now 1916 SLQ? Yes, someone will be very disappointed.

Heck, I don't own any SLQs, and I could tell that was a '17 in under 5 seconds. It will be easy to return as "sold not as described" since the seller stated it was a '16.

The experts here have taught a novice like me the diagnostics ... alas the winning bidder was not a member of the tremendous CCF.

Look at the bidding on this one - it's some of the most blatant shilling I've ever seen. Heck, the winning bidder smells of shilling themself, only not with this seller.

I think the last "legit" unslabbed dateless 1916 SLQ sold 1 1/2 years ago. It was mentioned on the forum and the seller come forward and joined in the discussion. I think the final selling price was around $600. I picked up my 1924 from the same seller listed at the same time for a fair price.

Can someone post pictures of the markers that I can use on the site?

This comparison image has floated around so much...I'm not sure who came up with it.

This is all you need, Bobby - it's slam-dunk, and good down to a P01 coin:
