Thanks to the assistance of another valued member I snagged this piece of aged brie a few weeks back

Claudius AE Sestertius
Restitution by 'Tito'

21.42 grams 35mm

The obverse is a bit 'cheesy' complete with some holes but the reverse rocks my boat nicely.

The patina is interesting on this coin. The obverse is very uneven and 'cheesy' as you say and the reverse is nicely uniform.

I am curious what would cause that. Simply lying face up when it fell to the ground all those years ago?

I always was fond of Claudius's coinage and the later Emperors restitution issues.

Jeremy ? Who is that !
Oh you must mean Hieronymas ...... he went to bed early and left me (FVRIVS) here to play "find the sestertii".

No 'dutch' you are quite right about the coin. I am very happy with my 'green cheese' ! For the money it was a terrific buy and makes a nice pair with my other Claudius sestertius (also 35mm). No regrets at all. The patination is quite heavy and at first glance I did think that there were some scrapes in the field behind the head. They are actually the ribbons from his laurel ! Besides ...... It is my favorite color too ! The color of money ..... olive green
