Bahrain Coins Identification - Coin Community Forum

schnauzer Valued Member United States 212 Posts	Posted 02/12/2014 1:49 pm I have a Bahrain Proof Set but don't know what year of issue they are. A buddy of mine wanted me to list them for sale for him. Looking at the coins doesn't really help. Some say 1970, some 1968, 1976, 1977 etc. Looked on ebay and the internet, but still confused. This is a copy of someone elses listing on ebay which is the same set I have. Can't figure out why the seller lists the set as 1983 when the coins within the set are different dates. They did issue a multi-year proof set sometime after 1969, with most of the coins dated 1966, the large silver 500 fils dated 1968 and the 250 fils dated 1969. If your coins have dates other than those, they've been swapped out for non-proof coins. They also issued an identical set in 1983, with all coins made of sterling silver and dated 1983. The ebay set clearly isn't the sterling silver set, since the three coins at the bottom are copper-coloured. I'd say describing it as "Proof set 1966-1969" should be adequate.
