Looking at the close ups of the OBV and REV....

Do you think it's the coin that looks blah, or just a beat up slab... or a bad picture.. or combination?

It looks like a combination scratched and foggy slab and unfocused photography.

I agree with Paul. In the obverse pic, I can see that the coin has AU++ details. The reverse simply didn't photograph well. Taking pictures through a holder can be difficult. With the obverse the way it is though, I'd trust the grade.

Poor photos, skritchy slab, nice AU coin. I suspect the two different colors showing on the obverse are true, though - the right side is noticeably darker than the left, under circumstances where the light sure appears to be shining from the left. I'd probably stay away from this one for that reason.

I know you want one of these real bad, but there will be a better one. Remember, NGC and PCGS have graded 13,000 of these between them, 600 of which are in AU58BN.
