1964 with damage? 1945 with no mint mark? I know this has significant damage on the rear, but I can't see any remnants of a mint mark.

PMD on the '64 for the 45 I'd say try the tissue test. If it fails at that then look up Henning nickels, but I think the dates are wrong for them, not only that but I'm sure I can see a P, the scratches are a problem but I think I can see a P.

The scratches have obliterated the bottom of the P but the top loop is almost visible, as a ghost.

I can still see the P too. Have you tried the tissue test?

Look up Aslan. I had added a pic with some tissue paper that I got as packaging material yesterday. Hopefully that kind of tissue paper was sufficient. The sound that this nickel made on my glass desk is very different than normal (non-silver) nickels.

Sorry I missed that it was a piece of tissue, I thought it was a close up with cropping, sorry bad eyes. When I do a tissue test I like to have a confirmed silver and an non silver under there too, for comparison. So yeah I'd say that is a badly worn deeply cut silver nickel, gratz!

Looked like the '45 was a P to me as well. If I recall '64s are extremely common. In half a box of nickels I came out with over a roll in just 1964. CRH could easily get you better with some steps I bet but to each their own.

The 64 was pictured because of the damage to the neck area, not because I thought it was rare.

So you thought it was rare due to damage! I see. I'm glad you didn't. Nickels weren't my favorite but when I went through my first box, they're my favorite coin to CRH.
