Though it's not the type of coin that interests me - it looks more like a piece of jewelry than a coin - I've been casually tracking the sales of the "Jewel of Life" coin on the RCM web site since shortly after its release. It has quietly sold quite well and is now down to about 225 remaining. It's available from the major coin dealers without limits, so I'm not saying that it's a "hot" coin. It's just been interesting to watch it be a consistent seller week after week on the RCM site without any noteworthy discussion here. Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! (c) commems. Without being declared as series, this coin continues the theme and specification of the 2013 Morning Glory. Good quality (saw both coins at PO), proof finish. Looks like jewelry item. Hard to collect them too due to variety of more traditional RCM coins.

My wife likes it, but I don't.
I agree with those of you who see it as a piece of jewellery, not a coin.
I had never heard of the designer, Caroline Néron until I Googled her name, but I still don't know why ksimms3 doesn't care for her.
P.S. We didn't buy one...

I considered it jewelry from the start - My wife was quite thrilled to get it on Valentines Day. It fits the 'coin pendant/holder' that was available with the 'Birth stone' coins from a few years ago. Granted, it will not stay in pristine condition as it will be worn regularly for the next few weeks, it will be one of the few coins I own that a lot of people will actually see.
I have to ask...Ksimms3....what do you have against Caroline Neron? (designer of reverse)

I usually don't like medallion-like coin, and wasn't thrilled about this one at first, but when somebody suggested the pendant with it, I liked the idea.
Find it not that good for a coin, but very nice for a jewelry item. And as it was designed to be a jewelry, I guess it makes sense.
Like it!

I got notification of shipment for my order for this coin which I put in on Sunday, this morning. This blows my mind since I got no notification on my O Canada subscription coin for February. The RCM charged this on 2/6/2014 to my credit card, and it showed up unannounced today. Go figure.

Personally I find the jewelry coins a bit feminine and fine for jewelry but I prefer to buy that from a jeweler rather than the mint I go to for collectible coins. To each his own I did get a close look at it at the post office and kept walking. I'm shocked the wife hasn't come home with it because it is eye catching and she checks the mail daily. Why wouldn't they market it with a chain and holder? Seems logical for who they're trying to attract with this.

I was wondering if the Tree of Life was the second coin to the Hummingbird coin. I remember reading at the time that the Hummingbird coin was the first in a new series and have been waiting to see what the second coin would be. I think I read it in the paper flyer the mint sent out. Would the fact that they were released at the same time, are considered "pretty" and have crystals on them, enough to make them a series?

The Mint doesn't mention it, but I think - yes, the Morning Glory and the Jewel of Life is the series.
Same concept and same specifications.
