I looked at my stack of 1972 extra Ikes last night for the first time in years after reading a post about the 3 types.

The reverse of this coin jumped out at me initially because there seemed to be a depth to the eagles head that the others didn't have, that and it has very nice toning on the reverse that really makes the eagle pop.

Then I looked at the little earth and didn't see any islands so I'm pretty sure this is a type II but want your opinion that it isn't just wear and please grade.

Low AU obverse but the reverse looks MS...my grade AU 55?

Need a better picture of the earth but it looks like a Type III to me.

Going by the closer photo, it sure looks like a Variety 2 to me (the wavy, non-island). The zoomed out photo is inconclusive, and I can see how it could be a Variety 3.

I think JBuck is correct, based on the diagnostics in that thread then this is a type II.

The crater is smooth with no little craters inside it, the eye has no lines or creases above it, and there are no distinct islands to be seen.
