I have tried many sites suggested and none can send to the UK :(

I think I have now found some on ebay that ship to uk at a reasonable price, would you guys think these are safe for long term storage?

I think they'll be fine - cardboard 2x2's are almost always mylar, anyway, and the seller lists them as "PVC free." Do you need 5,000?

Hi Dave,

Hope you have been well
Thanks, I will go for these then.

I don't need 5000 no, but its the only way I can get my price per unit down, you cannot get them in UK for under 7p each, (about 12cents).

I refuse to spend 7p per one when some of the coins I'm putting in them are not worth much, but I still want to preserve.
If I buy a few hundred or a thousand from USA, the shipping takes it up to about 6p, this is the only way to get them for 2-3p.

I figured I will sell a couple of thousand of them in small bundles so I probably will end up at about 1p each for the ones I use.

I am also still quite nervous about what 2x2 folder sleeves to use to display them, as I know most can still cause issues, its a hard thing to find that doesn't say vinyl, and the word vinyl scares me!!

Have you checked out Chris Perkins' offers at predecimal.com? I would suspect he'd only stock coin-safe supplies.

It would seem to be logical to buy these locally. Shipping to the UK is very high.

Hi Bad, surprisingly, it costs by far more buying them from UK than getting them ordered in from USA, More than double!

Dave, again, the site you sent me charges huge premiums, 3 pages cost £5,about 7-8 dollars

I have caved and ordered these 3 items, I have paid, just to get it done (have been stressing myself out for weeks trying to work out safe storage)

These are the things I have ordered, if anyone strongly feels either are not safe for longterm storage, please let me know, Thanks

Not sure how many coins you have that you want in those. However, you'ld be surprized at how fast they get used up. Not sure how many I've purchased over the years but I'll bet if I bought that many a long time ago, they'ld all be used up by now. It's always better to have some available and not go nuts looking for one or two sometime in the future. Depending on how much they charge to send to you, a really decent price. Also, if you find others that collect coins, they may well want to buy some from you.

My apologies, mashisback; I've no real vision of what might be considered "appropriate" pricing on that side of the pond. Price being a demand derivative, though, I'm not sure a typical American price is an appropriate baseline for an area where much lesser demand exists.

I've posted this here a while back.
My Great Aunt, after her apartment was broken into, stored her coins
under a floor board UNDER THE SINK!
Just about all escaped damage.

2 X 2 cardboard cost me 4 cents each last time that I bought.

Really, I think that you are needlessly concerned. Except for uncirculated coins
the non-PVC holders are just fine.

Thanks guys

If I could get the right contacts, I would start a site in the UK, or even tag it onto my current online retail business as there are good margins to be made.
But Dave is probably right, there could be low demand here, which is a shame because we have so much history around us yet not many people over here have an interest in it.

Thanks again

PS, Dave, I appreciated your help, I just read it back and I sounded short and dismissive of the site, didn't mean to be. The pages I ordered from online cost about 20p each, compared to about £1.70 each on his site.
I feel a sense of relief now I have placed my order, I honestly spent more time over the last few weeks looking for the right storage at the right price than I have spent on looking at coins!

Its done now, thanks for everyone's input

My local coin dealer sells me 2x2 in set of twenty for $1.50. The best part is I can choose different sizes for example 10 dimes 5 penny, and 5 large dollar 2x2.
