I have a Missouri Sales Tax receipt coin. Does anyone know anything about these?

From what I've read online these are from the 1930s to 1960s. 1 mil equals 1/10th of a cent.

It's made of zinc and 21 mm. With so many made, it's common. Worth $1 or less.

I have two; they came out of a dealer's 50 cent junk box. I know almost nothing about them.
?Has there ever been anything published on these?

From my understanding they originally came out during the era of the Great Depression to help cover the costs of taxes on purchases that people would make. Different states had their own versions. I have found quite a few from a few different states. I know I have at least a couple from Colorado and Missouri. Not worth much, but I am an Early to Mid 20th century history buff so I keep them!

Yep and then the fed's moved in and didn't like the state minting anything that would cut into the monopoly. There are collectable but as said very few are worth more than a dollar most less. But only on ebay were the uniformed buy for big bucks when they like the stories that sellers weave!

There is a book titled: United States Sales Tax Tokens and Stamps: A History and Catalog by Merlin Malehorn and Tim Davenport.

I don't know much anything about the book, layout, etc. other than it was published over 20 years ago. There may be newer reference works out.
