1861 Confederate Seated Liberty Half Dollar

bobr New Member United States 5 Posts	Posted 02/27/2014 1:52 pm I see coins with United States of America listed as confederate. This one looks similar to some of I've seen on Google but I don't understand the R to the right of the shield. This coin has been in storage for over sixty years. I don't think it would be ink? Does anyone have any ideas about the R or the value of the coin from viewing the pictures? Report this Post to the Staff

The original Scott restrikes http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/Coin/Detail/340402 would have had 19 buds on the reverse. Common replicas, like yours, often only have 17 buds. Report this Post to the Staff
